Andrea Bianconi


Andrea Bianconi (Arzignano, 1974) lives and works in New York and Vicenza. His body of work is composed of drawings, paintings, sculpture, video performance and public performance. His recent exhibitions include Solstice - Dialogic Drawing Experiment at the MSK Museum of Fine Arts in Ghent, Belgium. He was selected to participate in the 5th Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art, curated by Catherine de Zegher. His solo-exhibitions and group shows include Embassy of Italy in Washington D.C.; Museu do Meio Ambiente in Rio de Janeiro; Centro del Carmen, Valencia, Spain; Matadero, Madrid, Spain; Film Society Lincoln Center, New York; Maraya Art Centre, Sharjah, United Arab Emirates; Swiss Architecture Museum (S AM), Basilea, Svizzera; Kunsthal Charlottenburg, Copenhagen, Denmark; ISCP, Brooklyn, NY; Palazzo Reale, Milan, Italy; Furini Arte Contemporanea, Rome, Italy; Barbara Davis Gallery, Houston, Texas; Volta Show, New York. 

Bianconi has had numerous public art performances and most recently an anthology of his 10 years of performance (2006 - 2016) has been released, published by Silvana Editoriale and a retrospective at Casa Testori, Milan. Among his performances: Fantastic Planet, at Barbara Davis Gallery, Houston, Texas; Time is Timing, at Dolomites National Park, Italy; Summer Night Series, Union Square NYC; Italian Cultural Institute, NYC; Tina B – The Prague Contemporary Art Festival, Prague, Czech Republic; Postcard People, Peekskill Project V, Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art (HVCCA), NY; The Chinese Umbrella Hat Project (Part I), Wujiang Rd West Nanjing Rd, Shanghai, China a collateral event of the Expo 2010; The Chinese Umbrella Hat Project (Part II), Piazza San Marco, Venice, Italy (a collateral event of the 54 Venice Biennial 2011). His work has been reviewed in leading art journals and mainstream publications alike, among them, Vogue, Artforum, Interni, Flash Art, La Repubblica, Il Sole 24 Ore, Double Magazine, El Mundo, Bejing Times, Shanghai Daily, Elle Décor. In 2011 Charta published his first monography; in 2012 Cura.Books published his first artist book, “ROMANCE” launched at MoMa PS1, NYC and in September 2013 his book “FABLE” was launched at MoMa PS1, NYC.  He made the cover for Connectivity 2013 published by New York Public Library in NYC.
