Sara Bichao

Sara Bichão is an artist whose work delves into the exploration of identity and the concept of traveling, blending personal experiences with a symbolic use of colors, forms, and meanings. Her creations are often characterized by a sense of ephemerality and contemplation, offering viewers a balanced environment that invites them to uncover deeper symbolic meanings.

 

Born in 1986, Bichão lives and works in Lisbon, Portugal. She holds a Master’s degree in Fine Arts from the University of Lisbon. In 2012, she expanded her artistic practice through a residency at Residency Unlimited in New York. Her talent has been recognized with several awards, including the BPI Bank Prize for Painting and the prestigious Fidelidade Mundial Jovens Pintores Prize.

Bichão has exhibited her work in a variety of international venues, showcasing her versatility and unique artistic voice. Her recent exhibitions include shows at Rooster Gallery in New York, Artopia Gallery in Milan, Les Gens Heureux in Copenhagen, Pavilhão Branco and Quadrum Gallery in Lisbon, Krypt Gallery in London, Barbara Davis Gallery in Houston, Arevalo Gallery in Miami, the Natural History Museum in Lisbon, the Museum of Ancient Art in Lisbon, and the Oriente Museum in Lisbon.

 

Her work is included in several esteemed collections, such as Culturgest-Fidelidade Mundial, the Telo de Morais Collection, the Figueiredo Ribeiro Collection, and the ECO Collection, further cementing her position as a significant contemporary artist.
